Our commitment has always been, and will always be, to support the success of salon professionals. In 2007, our co-founder, John Paul DeJoria, signed a 360-year trust that ensures we will remain a family-owned and independent professional beauty company, true to our original promises. From a wide range of unparalleled hair color and wet line products to ever-expanding education and business resources, professionals can count on us for everything they need to thrive.
In 2000, Paul Mitchell Schools began with a single location. Today, they have over 90 locations and are still growing. For over 20 years, Paul Mitchell Schools have provided exceptional educational experiences to students (we call them Future Professionals) and to the team at our Paul Mitchell Franchise Schools. Our Future Professionals have the opportunity to enhance their training and education by providing services to guests under the supervision of our expert instructors. Book your appointment here.

Paul Mitchell is committed to putting people and the planet first through four main pillars: virgin plastic reduction (saving 224 tons in 2024 by using recycled plastic), waste management (diverting over 91,000 pounds of waste from landfills through Green Circle Salons), carbon footprint reduction (generating solar energy at its distribution center equivalent to driving 19 times around the world), and responsible sourcing (using 100% Australian tea tree from a certified farm); all aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to create a better future.
Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Farm, established in 1983 in Hawaii, is where the brand's signature ingredient, awapuhi ginger, is sustainably grown and harvested. This ingredient, used ancestrally by native Hawaiians, is rich in amino acids and provides natural hydration for hair. The farm operates completely off-the-grid, using solar power and rainwater, and follows a regenerative cycle where part of each root is replanted for the following year's harvest, ensuring that the process, managed by the same family for over 40 years, is environmentally friendly and long-lasting.
Since its founding in 1980, Paul Mitchell has maintained a firm commitment to not testing on animals. The company guarantees that all its products and ingredient sourcing are 100% cruelty-free, an ethical stance they have upheld since day one and continue to promote under the leadership of their CEO, Michaeline DeJoria.
Paul Mitchell is dedicated to making the world a better place through philanthropy and ethical practices. Their efforts focus on supporting communities, protecting the environment, and advocating for human rights. They collaborate with charities such as Baby2Baby, Waterkeeper Alliance, and Bees for Development, among others. In addition, their network of cosmetology schools has raised over $26 million for various causes. They also maintain a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, promoting a work environment and communities free from racism and hate.
